Here at The Resonant Leader we love to think about, and talk about, the things that make us the best version of who we are.

One of the things we talk about and try to do is define the difference between good and bad. To do this we’ve taken some of the most effective and influential studies in personality psychology and applied them to the world of business and leadership. We like to talk about leaders and people who have “resonance” and “spirit” because we think they are truly the best versions of what they are.

The reason that leaders, for both good and bad, resonate is because they feel a strong sense of purpose and meaning. When we feel like we are living a purposeful life, it makes us feel good. The same thing applies to leadership, and to what resonates within leaders in general. While the exact ways and ways we can define this differ, there are some key things we can all agree on.

Leaders who are able to resonate within their followers have a lot to say and do, and therefore a lot to accomplish. In fact, I would argue that leaders can be the very definition of resonance because they create a sense of meaning and purpose into their lives. Even if the leader is not necessarily the best version of themselves, they are able to resonate with their followers and change their lives for the better.

I know, I know, I’m just playing devil’s advocate here. But when people say leaders, I want to know what they mean. In my mind, leaders are people who follow through with their ideas and goals, and not get distracted by the idea of themselves. Even if we’re talking about someone like Jesus, who said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself,” I still hope he was not a leader.

In my mind, leadership is not about being your own boss but about doing what you say you’ll do, and following through. Leaders are someone who are accountable to their followers. It’s not about being the best at everything, it’s about being the best at what you do. It’s about a leader that is not afraid to push boundaries, be the bigger person, and live up to the expectations of his or her followers.

In any group, there will be people who are great at something and people who are bad at it, and in a leadership role there is the constant pressure to grow and improve, and of course to be the best at it. However, there is a point where the leader stops trying to be better and just goes with the flow, and that’s exactly what resonant leader does. After his wife, he decided to try and become a doctor and he does become a doctor.

In resonant leader’s case, he decides to become a doctor and gets a residency in surgery because he is a great doctor. His wife is a nurse and she stays with him in the surgery residency because her doctor is a great surgeon and they get along well. But eventually his wife says that she wants to be a doctor and she takes over the entire residency and becomes the residency director of the hospital.

I don’t want to spoil the ending, but I found it to be incredibly satisfying. He was a great surgeon, an awesome leader, a great doctor, and a great wife. And he got his residency in surgery after getting married.

But there’s also something to be said about the fact that the leader of the hospital that he founded is a woman. I mean, the hospital is called the Resonant Leader and he’s married to a woman who is a great surgeon and a great leader. She actually does something good. She takes the lead of the hospital, and you can only wish for that.
